    A little off the beaten track, but if you're looking for a food stop off Highway 5 and accidentally get off at Exit 286 instead of Exit 290 (it seemed there were more food & gas options at the latter), at least you will find a Subway on your scenic detour through Merritt. Everything seemed up to Subway standards, and the bathrooms were clean. Only complaint involved the masses of high schoolers who lined up here at 12pm sharp. We beat the rush, but I would warn against stopping here around noon on a weekday!
